Etsy Fees in 2026: What You Actually Keep Per Sale

By DSPX · July 23, 2026

“How much does Etsy take?” is the question every seller underestimates. In 2026 it’s not one fee — it’s a stack. Here’s the whole stack in plain English, with a worked example, so you can price for profit instead of finding out later.

The 2026 fee stack

  • Listing fee — $0.20 per listing. Charged when you publish and again every time the listing renews or sells.
  • Transaction fee — 6.5%. Applied to the item price plus shipping and gift wrap. This is the big one, and yes, it taxes your shipping too.
  • Payment processing — about 3% + $0.25 in the US (rates vary by country). Charged on the total the buyer pays.
  • Regulatory operating fee in some countries (UK, France, Italy, Spain and others) to cover local digital taxes. These rose in 2026 — the UK’s went from 0.32% to 0.48% in June.
  • Offsite Ads fee (12–15%) only when a sale comes through an Etsy-run ad. And in some US states (like Texas and Washington) Etsy now charges sales tax on its own fees.

A worked example

Say you sell a $30 item with $5 shipping — $35 total to the buyer.

  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of $35 = −$2.28
  • Payment processing: 3% of $35 + $0.25 = −$1.30
  • Listing fee: −$0.20

That’s about $3.78 in fees on a $35 order before your product cost. If the item cost you $8 to make or source, your real profit is roughly $35 − $3.78 − $8 = $23.22 — not the “$30” you might have had in your head.

The mistake that erases profit

Pricing from the gross number. Sellers pick a price that “feels right,” forget the fee stack, then wonder why the bank balance doesn’t match the sales total. The fix is to price backward from the profit you want to keep, adding the fees on top — especially now that folding shipping into the item price makes the 6.5% transaction fee bite harder.

Match Etsy to the cent. DSPX Finance models this exact fee schedule and reconciles it against Etsy’s own “Order earnings,” so the profit number you see is the number that lands — and you can test a price change before you make it.

Bottom line

Etsy’s fees are predictable once you see the whole stack. Build them into your price from the start, watch the 2026 regional-fee increases if you sell from Europe, and always price from net profit — not the sticker.
